40GB HDD for map data, POI, and Music Server

The KD-NX5000 features a large-capacity 40GB Hard Disk Drive inside. The beauty of HDD unit is that a single unit can handle everything from navigation to AV entertainment. It provides precise map data, a large number of POIs, and Music Server function for storing thousands of MP3/WMA/WAV files.

Extensive Maps with Over 1.3 Million POI

The 16GB HDD map covers 21 European countries*. You can drive smoothly across borders with no disc changing required, unlike cumbersome DVD navigation. More than 1.3 million POI data is also available so you can easily find locations such as restaurants, gas stations, or hotels. The POI are displayed on the map as icons. You can search for a particular POI by specifying its name or by choosing from a list of categories.

Built-in RDS-TMC Tuner and EGNOS-Capable GPS
The KD-NX5000 comes with the RDS-TMC traffic tuner built in, and requires no hideaway modules. Real-time traffic information is broadcasted by the Traffic Message Channel (TMC) via the FM Radio Data System (RDS). Just one push on your remote control’s “Traffic” key will give you information on traffic jams and accidents ahead, plus calculate an alternative route.
The KD-NX5000 also incorporates the EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) enabled system that improves GPS accuracy for precise navigation.

Easy Destination Search and High-Speed Route Calculation
The HDD boasts superior speed and capacity compared to CD or DVD navigation. You can search for destinations by POI, address, recent and favourite destinations, latitude/longitude. Route calculation is also fast to let you quickly choose the fastest or shortest path.
Multilingual Voice Guidance
The KD-NX5000 provides precise voice guidance in 9 languages – English (GB) / English (US) / German / French / Spanish / Italian / Dutch / Swedish / Danish, with your choice of male or female voice.
3.5" Widescreen Monitor with User-Friendly GUI
The built-in 3.5-inch LCD displays navigation maps, movies, still photos, song information, and much more. It also has a user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) for setting parameters and controlling the system
Easy Map Data Updates
Updating the HDD map is simple – just purchase an update disc online and load it on to the system. The update time for KD-NX5000 is much shorter compared to conventional units, and you can even listen to the radio or music files in the HDD music server during the process.
Wide Array of High-Quality Sound Technologies
To produce exceptional quality sound, a wide array of audio improvement circuitry and exclusive designs have been incorporated in the KD-NX5000. Low distortion and low noise are realised by adopting parts exclusively for audio circuits such as film capacitor, operation amp, and electronic volume IC.
Also incorporated is a low impedance capacitor that can fully eliminate noise generated in the power circuit.
Another means of reducing noise is optimised circuit board layout; the audio circuit, power circuit, digital circuits such as for navigation, and DiAS Digital Tuner are all positioned separately on the board. Moreover, symmetrically located audio Lch and Rch circuits and an audio-exclusive ground circuit also contribute to high quality sound.
Multi-format AV Playback including DivX®
The KD-NX5000 is compatible with multiple formats, including MP3/WMA/WAV and DivX®/JPEG/MPEG1,2. This system is a DivX® Ultra Certified product, and can play PC-created DivX® video files from a DVD/CD. The powerful compression of DivX® can fit 10 movies onto 1 DVD, or 1 movie onto 1 CD, without sacrificing picture quality.
GIGA MP3 MULTI
The KD-NX5000 is a true multimedia system – GIGA MP3 MULTI allows playback of MP3, WMA, and WAV files, while CD music, DVD movies, CDs and DVDs with JPEG still photos, MPEG 1/2 video files, and DivX® movies can also be enjoyed. With so many entertainment options, even rear seat passengers will never be bored.
Simultaneous Navigation and AV Entertainment
With the high-capacity HDD, you can entertain rear seat passengers with DVD movies while using the navigation up front.
Ready for iPod
Drive along with music from your iPod – with the optional KS-PD100 adapter, your iPod can be connected and controlled via the head unit.
Ready for Bluetooth® Adapter
An optional KS-BTA200 adapter allows wireless connection with compatible mobile phones and digital audio players to enable hands-free calls or music streaming. With the POI dial function, you can find a restaurant on the POI and call to make a reservation all at once.

Rear-View Camera Ready
An optional rear-view camera KV-CM1K can be attached for greater safety. Its ultra-compact size allows it to be set up wherever you like.

The innovative system neatly packs high-performance navigation and high-quality A/V entertainment in a 1-DIN system. Built-in high-capacity hard disk drive lets you enjoy stress-free navigation and Music Sever entertainment. The RDS-TMC tuner is also built into the head unit, so there’s no need for hideaways.
